PROGRAMME DETAILS
Work USA is a reciprocal "Exchange Visitor Programme” (EVP) and has been running for more than 38 years. Participants enter the USA on a special J1 Visa, which is viewed as a long-term educational benefit. This is why, provided you are eligible for the Work USA Programme, you are allowed to enter and take paid employment in the US.
SASTS together with Interexchange administer the Work USA programme. SASTS, along with all international partners ensure applicants will always have sufficient back up services throughout their stay in the USA. We recommend applying early for Work USA, thus securing your place on the programme.
You have to be a registered full-time student at a tertiary institution to be eligible for this programme.
Please note that the US Embassy has set a new ruling for SA working holiday visa holders. Applicants must have a job confirmed and proof thereof when making application for your visa. So you will have to have a job confirmed before applying for your visa. A job confirmation letter will need to accompany your application to the American embassy.
